Do you get too much junk in the mail? Make it stop…Please…

Are you constantly filling up your recycling bin with a bunch of junk from your mailbox?  Constant coupons, catalogs, and credit card offers? Make it stop….Please!!!! Here’s an easy step to take so you can reclaim your mailbox.  In my effort to go green, I decided something needed to be done about this.  Below are the exact steps I followed to stop all the Junk! Save some trees people!

Go sign up for this website:, It’s free.

This website breaks down your mail into 4 different categories: credit card offers, catalogs, magazine offers, and other bulk mail offers. You can manage to start, stop, for a time frame or permanently.  You can choose which offers to start or stop, as well as stop an entire category.

Credit Card Offers

I was most interested in the credit card, because I hate having pre-authorized credit card offers sent to me in the mail.  I think it’s also dangerous for identity theft.  When I signed in there was three different options.

Opt-In: Your name will be eligible for inclusion on lists used for Firm Offers of credit or insurance.
Electronic Opt-Out for Five Years: Your name will not be eligible for inclusion on lists used for Firm Offers of credit or insurance for five years.
Permanent Opt-Out by Mail: Your name will no longer be eligible for inclusion on lists for Firm Offers of credit or insurance (In order to complete your Permanent Opt-Out election, you must print and mail the Permanent Opt-Out Election form. See FAQ – What is Permanent Opt-Out)

Your request will be processed within 5 business days.  This does not stop it right away because your name may already have been provided to some companies, but should stop after a couple months.

While your name will be removed from the lists that Equifax, Experian, Innovis and TransUnion provide to businesses for the purpose of making you a firm offer of credit or insurance, you may continue to receive offers from sources that do not use Consumer Credit Reporting Companies to compile their lists.

Other mail offers:

For Catalog, Magazines, & Bulk Mail offers, I chose remove all from the bottom of the list.  You can also go one by one and choose which ones to remove if you would like.  There were a couple that I decided to keep, but only asked for the holiday catalog, instead of receiving one all year long.
